HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Huntsville and Madison county leaders held a COVID-19 update at noon on Monday.
Huntsville Hospital CEO David Spillers says there are approximately 70 COVID-19 inpatients within the health care system. On Monday, there are 16 people being treated at Huntsville Hospital and 7 being treated at Madison Hospital.
Spillers discussed the demographics of COVID-19 patients within the healthcare system. He says the average age of patients admitted in Madison County is 54.6 years old.
Spillers also addressed antibody testing. He said fewer than 2% of people tested for antibodies tested positive for the antibodies. Spillers said that means many people who thought they may have had the virus earlier in the year probably did not. He encouraged people to wear masks when out in public.
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle says there are currently 266 people quarantined. He also urged people to practice social distancing, wear a mask when it public, and sanitize.
