Limestone County deputies confirm body of missing teen found

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office confirms that the body of a missing teenager Miguel Alonso was found Friday morning.

16-year-old Alonso was reported missing Thursday morning. First responders were out in-force all day Thursday but called off the search around 6 p.m. due to weather concerns.

His body was found around 9:30 a.m Friday.

Alonso was last seen fishing near the boat ramp on Elk River Park Road. Investigators say they found a fishing pole and tarp in the area where Alonso was last seen.

Investigators haven’t released a cause of death, but say they haven’t ruled out foul play in the case.

Limestone County’s coroner is on the way to the scene.
