Decatur leaders prepare for businesses to open under revised ‘Safer-at-home’ order

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - Decatur and Morgan county officials held a COVID-19 press briefing at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Guests included Decatur Mayor Tab Bowling, Parks & Recreation Director Jason Lake and Morgan County Commission Chairman Ray Long.

Decatur Mayor Tab Bowling encouraged residents to support local businesses.

“Do what you feel comfortable doing. Continue to social distance and wear your masks but support your local businesses where you can.”

Morgan County Commission Chairman Ray Long said there were no issues last week with government offices open.

“Everything went great! I think the people of the county are just are proud to see us open again and are following all the rules.”

“This week our walking trails will be back open, but playgrounds have to stay closed under this phase of the order.”

Parks & Recreation Director Jason Lake was happy that Gov. Ivey revised her ‘Safer-at-Home’ order.

“We will be able to open the Aquadome and all outdoor tennis courts beginning on Tuesday.”

“The Decatur Parks & Rec would like to thank all of our residents for being patient with us.”
