DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - Decatur and Morgan county leaders updated residents on the latest status of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

What was said:
Mayor Bowling started Wednesday’s update by thanking all emergency workers and first responders for their work during Tuesday’s severe weather.
Next, Robby Cantrell spoke on resources in north Alabama.
“Small business owners across Alabama are eligible to apply for benefits due to coronavirus impact” said Cantrell.
Cantrell encouraged residents interested in these small business loans to call the NARCOG office at 256-355-1545.
“The NARCOG Small Business Fund has a vast list of resources. Please contact our office.”
Cantrell also reiterated social distancing especially when in public settings and when using NARCOG transit. For more, visit NARCOG.org.
Eddie Hicks of the Morgan County EMA spoke last.
“Our government agencies have enacted a state of emergency” said Hicks. “This is a normal process when we are dealing with funding from and for state agencies.”
“We are practicing what we are preaching and working virtually as much as we can.”
Bowling wrapped up the update by encouraging residents to continue to patronize local businesses while practicing social distancing.
