Pedestrian killed on South Memorial Parkway identified
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Huntsville police have released more information on a fatal Monday night accident.
Police say a pedestrian was attempting to cross Memorial Parkway going east at Drake Avenue shortly before 9 p.m. A car traveling south on Memorial Parkway was unable to avoid him as he crossed Memorial Parkway.
The pedestrian was struck and landed on the north bound side of Memorial Parkway. Police say he was then run over by two more vehicles.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Huntsville police identified him as 58-year-old Roger Johnson, who was a transient.
Police said all vehicles stopped to assist in keeping Johnson from being struck again.
No charges will be filed.
Police say Johnson’s crossing of the Parkway was illegal.
