HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Construction crews are making major strides at Huntsville Animal Services.
Workers are renovating the kennel areas to make the space less stressful for animals waiting to find forever homes. There is a new coat of paint on the walls, and floors have been repaired.
Shelter volunteers say the improvements are not so the shelter can house more animals.
"They’ll have like a bedroom area and a bathroom area. We’re not adding more kennels. We have to keep stressing that. We’re not trying to house more animals here. Just having bigger housing areas, so less stress for the dogs,” said program coordiantor Cristin Anderson.
Adoption fees are still waived while the shelter is under construction.
Not all animals are free, but there are very few exceptions.
The shelter is located at 4950 Triana Blvd.
