HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Big news for high school football teams. Wednesday was the early signing period for high school football players across the country. And north Alabama had its share of young men signing on the dotted line.
In Decatur, Red Raiders standout Turner Stepp signed with the Naval Academy. Stepp fell in love with the program and the tradition of brotherhood with the midshipmen.
At Muscle Shoals High School, three division 1 football players signed their national letters of intent. Logan Smothers is headed to Nebraska, Jackson Bratton is headed to Alabama, and Javar Strong made his decision to sign with Arkansas State.
James Clemens sent another offensive lineman to the next level, and it’s not too far from home. Zach Taylor signed on with the UAB Blazers.
Mac McClusky and Ty Kircharr signed on to stay home and play for the UNA Lion. Both players are part of two state championship appearances for the Panthers the last two seasons.
