FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - Florence’s 1 cent sales tax increase just boosted its budget by $10 million.
The City Council approved a $69 million general fund budget Tuesday. That includes a 3% raise for city employees effective January 1st. The budget is being buoyed by a new 1 cent sales tax that passed earlier this year.
Mayor Steve Holt says they’re also planning more park and museum work and downtown streetscaping.
