HANCEVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) - The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that in Cullman County that left a man dead.
According to authorities, after receiving a call from a concerned family, Hanceville Police Officers were dispatched to a home on County Road 599 in Hanceville to conduct a welfare check.
When officers arrived at the scene, they were met with gunfire from someone inside the residence. Officers returned fire and the suspect was shot multiple times. The suspect was rendered aid, but was pronounced dead a short time later at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
Officer patrol cars were stuck multiple times, but no officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire.
The suspect has been identified as 65-year-old Robert Clay Wilsford Sr.
