Shoals music pioneer Donnie Fritts has open heart surgery

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WAFF) - A Shoals music pioneer had open heart surgery on Wednesday.

Our news partners at the Times Daily say Donnie Fritts is recovering at UAB after his procedure, and the prognosis is good.

The 76-year-old musician is known for his songs “We Had It All” and “Breakfast in Bed.”

His good friend, Johnny Belew, says, Fritts has a lot of music left in him, and a big show announcement is coming soon.
