Mae Jemison High School principal resigns for Gulf Shores job

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Dr. Rachael McDaniel, principal of Mae Jemison High School, has resigned.

Huntsville city school board member Elisa Ferrell said the resignation was approved at Tuesday night’s board meeting

McDaniel took a job in the Gulf Shores school system.

McDaniel worked for one year in Huntsville. She was hired with the hopes of turning that school around.

The school board will need to find a new principal.

Ferrell said they’ve already had announcements posted for a while because of other vacancies and this adds to the list of positions they need to fill.

The school has had multiple principals since it opened a few years ago.
