LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - A major infrastructure project in the Shoals should benefit the entire Tennessee Valley.
The Tennessee Valley Authority is building a new $50 million power switch yard at Wilson Dam that will serve the entire Valley.
TVA provides power for more than 40,000 homes in the area. With that many customers, the TVA project manager says this upgrade is needed to stay at a 100 percent reliability rate.
“What this means is that the reliable power people are used to when they flip the switch and the light comes on, that means the reliability will continue for generations to come,” said project manager Jason Smith.
The new power switch yard is expected to be completed in 2021.
