Alabama ranked 2nd worst state by U.S. News & World Report

(WAFF) - U.S. News & World Report has released its list of best and worst states, and Alabama did not fare well.

Alabama ranked number 49, with Louisiana taking the number 50 spot. Other states at the bottom were Mississippi, West Virginia and New Mexico.

The top ranking states were Washington, New Hampshire, Minnesota, Utah and Vermont.

Health care and education were the most heavily weighed criteria in these rankings. It also looked at economy, infrastructure, internet, public safety, state government and opportunities for residents.
