TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) - In Colbert County, city leaders are working hard to make improvements following the devastating February flooding.
FEMA is offering communities that suffered flood damages an opportunity to improve certain infrastructure at a reduced cost.
The agency will pay for 75 percent of the cost of the improvements. Colbert County is one of 10 north Alabama counties included in a federal disaster declaration that makes the mitigation funds available.
According to our partners at the Times Daily Tuscumbia Mayor Kerry Underwood wants to look at ways to move water to drainage basins more efficiently to avoid flooding.
