MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) - A building in Muscle Shoals is one of five built by the Shoals Economic Development Authority to attract more industries to the Shoals.
“The one built in Muscle Shoals is 100,000 square feet with the capacity to add 50 more thousand feet with a base already done,” said Muscle Shoals Mayor David Bradford.
Bradford says they have already had some interest in the building from possible Mazda Toyota suppliers.
They’re hopeful this empty shell of building won’t be empty for much longer.
Once industry suppliers start setting up shop in the Shoals it could possibly create hundreds of jobs.
“It’s a good opportunity for people who live in the shoals to not have to travel because a lot of people I know travel to Decatur, Athens, and Huntsville just to find a good paying job,” said Kristen Copper.
Copper says this is a big deal for rural Alabama.
She has family members in the industry and many of them hope to snag one of those jobs.
Bradford expects to get an industry supplier moved into the building closer to the completion of the Mazda-Toyota in 2021.
