ALABASTER, AL (WBRC) - It may not be unusual for twins to earn valedictorian in high school, but what about two sets?
At Thompson High School, twins sisters Shaliyah and Aliyah Johnson, along with twins Trulee and Hope Karvonen, have earned valedictorian for their senior year.
“This is just a big honor,” said Aliyah Johnson. “It shows all the hard work we put in these last four years paid off. And for my sister to be on top of the class, along with me, and another set of twins in the same school, it’s just crazy.”
Any Thompson High School student that finishes with a GPA of 4.0 and higher is a valedictorian. This year there are 132 seniors that have reached that mark in the school.
The Johnson sisters plan on attending the University of Alabama in the fall, while the Karvonen’s will be going to UAB.
