MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF) - With summer getting closer many of you in the shoals may be wondering when the TVA Rock Pile Recreational Area Park will reopen.
It sustained a lot of damage from recent flooding which has made it too dangerous for you and your family to enjoy.
TVA Rock Pile Recreational Area is a popular park for families. February’s Flooding caused more than a million dollars in damage. It will remain closed until TVA can repair the damage.
TVA’s most popular park sustained a significant amount of damage in the flood. For weeks the park was submerged under 6 feet of water. That left the playground, bathrooms, boat dock, roads and the popular TVA waterfall damaged. Repairs will be made in three phases. Derek South, recreational specialist with TVA, says everything was underwater for too long and they don’t want risk anyone getting hurt until repairs are made.
“]"Right now we are gathering estimates and getting some contractors lined up to do some of the specialty work," said South.
TVA hopes to have the park back open sometime in summer until then everyone needs to stay away because it dangerous. In Muscle Shoals
