DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -Decatur police today identified the teenage male, who was struck and killed Saturday night on the U.S. 31 causeway as 19-year-old William Glen-Austin Stout of Decatur.

At about 9:08 p.m. Saturday, Morgan County Central Dispatch received a call from a driver, who said he had struck something while crossing the causeway on U.S. 31, police said in a statement.

The officers who responded found a motor home parked on the shoulder of Alabama 20 and evidence on the vehicle indicating it had struck a pedestrian, according to police.

After searching the causeway, officers found the body of a man lying partially submerged in the water, police said.

The driver of the motor home is a resident of Fayetteville, Tennessee, said police, who continue to investigate. The driver was not identified.

Limestone County Coroner Mike West said the man was apparently walking on the causeway when struck by the RV, which was heading north on U.S. 31. The man was knocked over a guardrail, West said.

West said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
