Construction worker killed in Arab chemical plant explosion

ARAB, AL (WAFF) - Officials in Arab are investigating a deadly explosion at Umicore Specialty Chemicals.

Arab Fire Officials say that the explosion occurred in a construction area in a new part of the building.

One person died in the incident. According to a fire department report he’s named as Aaron Lee. According to Peck Funeral Home’s website, 26 year old Aaron Blaine Lee’s visitation will be held Thursday evening September 27th from 5 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home in Hartselle. Funeral services will be Friday September 28th at 1 pm at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Lebanon Baptist Cemetery.

Lee was reportedly working on an empty tank for sulfuric acid. Officials are still trying to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
