HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - We head to Gurley Alabama, and check in on the Madison County Tigers who are making a jump in competition this season.

Gone are the days of Class 4A play, Head coach Scott Sharp’s program will make the jump to Class 5A and play the likes of Madison County, Westminster, and East Limestone.

Only four wins a year ago for the Tigers, Coach Sharp is obviously looking to at least double that in 2018.

“Last year was a disappointing year no question about that, we haven’t really said much about last year, we’ve talked about this year. Our guys have picked up from where we left off last year and worked really hard. We haven’t talked much about what we have to do. I think we have to come out and get better every single day, and hopefully let the process take care of itself,” said Scott Sharp, Madison County High School head coach.

The Tigers are moving on from Class 4A to Class 5A Region 8 this season. That’s part of some teams reclassifying throughout the state in the Alabama High School Athletics Association.

4-6 a year ago, tons of injuries a year ago hurt the Tigers postseason chances. Scott Sharp’s bunch gets things started August 24 against Buckhorn High School in a non-region game.
