DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Investigators with Decatur police say at least one person is recovering in Huntsville Hospital after a car accident on Wednesday morning just before 11 o’clock.
Decatur police, Decatur Fire & Rescue, and First Response EMS were dispatched to single-vehicle roll-over wreck with a possible ejection on Highway 31 near Red Bank Road on Wednesday, August 15.
Investigators tell us upon their arrival, it appeared that a GMC Envoy, driven by 18-year-old Deanna Beach of Hartselle, was traveling northbound on Highway 31 S. After passing the intersection of Red Bank Road, the Envoy left the right side of the roadway.

The vehicle struck an embankment, which caused it to roll over several times. As it was overturning, the front passenger, 23-year-old Justice Dewayne Cowley of Decatur, was ejected from the vehicle.
Investigators say neither Cowley or Beach were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Cowley was transported to Huntsville Hospital by Air Evac. As of Wednesday afternoon, Cowley was still at Huntsville Hospital and under observation in stable condition. Beach was uninjured.
The investigation is ongoing.
