Another Lawsuit slapped on largest Shoals employer

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (WAFF)- The first lawsuit was filed Tuesday for 120,000 dollars, but that's small in comparison to the one filed Thursday.

Wise Alloys is home to more than 1000 Shoals employees.

Theresa Pride said, like so many other shoals residents, she has a deep connection to that company.

"My father worked there for 35 years.  He loved it...he loved it," Pride said.

"People loved to work there it was just wonderful, a wonderful place to work."

A business that leads in production of aluminum sheet cans, but more recently the defendant in a series of lawsuits.

Last December the Plaintiffs were NEWCO Metals of Indiana for 53,000 dollars, and ADT Security Services for 5000 dollars.

Earlier this week, S & M equipment company filed suit for 120,000 dollars; all for failure to compensate for services.

WAFF 48 News has learned this time United Scraps Metal, Incorporated has fallen in line with a 9.9 million dollar lawsuit.

Of all the lawsuits Wise Alloys has been hit with in the past year, this one, by far, is the largest.

9.9 million dollars might be a financial setback, but for now workers are still on the job.

"Whether or not the economy is in a slump or at it's peak, the demand for the product is still going to be there for particular markets," said President of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, Steve Holt.

A demand for aluminum that keeps workers very busy at a leading Shoals employer with a paper trail of of lawsuits lingering in the distance.
