Woman charged after police chase

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Police arrest a woman they say tried to flee from them after a traffic stop. Officers say they stopped a vehicle driven by Cindy Ann Romine Wednesday afternoon near the corner of West Moulton and 11th St.

Police say there was an outstanding warrant for Romine's arrest, on theft charges. The officer says he told Romine she was under arrest, and allowed her to go back into her vehicle and get her purse. They say that's when she jumped into the vehicle, started it up, and drove away.

After a lengthy pursuit, officers were able to get Romine stopped in Lawrence Co. Romine now faces escape charges in addition to the theft charge she had faced before the traffic stop.
