Why is WAFF going Digital?

Why is WAFF going Digital?

All U.S. broadcasters are required by a 1997 Federal Communications Commission (FCC) mandate to complete conversion to digital broadcasting by 2003. The motivating force behind this mandate is the overcrowding of radio waves that deliver not only analog television, but also devices such as cellular phones, microwave ovens, baby monitors, garage door openers and air traffic control systems. Converting to digital frees up air space so that all of these items can operate more safely and efficiently.

In addition, Digital TV will provide our viewers the following benefits:

Better Picture Quality

Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound

Widescreen Format

More Flexibility and Choices of Programming
