5 injured in boat collision on Coosa River

GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say fog may have been a factor when two boats collided last week on the Coosa River, injuring five men.

Alabama Marine Police officer Rick Sides identified the men as 48-year-old Daniel Hollon and 27-year-old Neil Rosenthal, who were taken to Gadsden Regional Medical Center, and 22-year-old Joshua Hollon, being treated at the University of Alabama in Birmingham Medical Center.

All were from Cherokee County. Their conditions were not released.

The men in the other boat were 70-year-old Herman Terrell and 51-year-old Cary Ackerson, both from Gadsden.

Both were treated and released from Gadsden Regional hospital following Thursday's accident.

Etowah County Sheriff's spokesman Scott Hassell credited swift action by rescue crews for saving the men.

One boat capsized.
