BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Family and friends of Kapali Swamy recall his death at a rally to warn others that even a single punch in the head can kill.
The 27-year-old Swamy, who grew up in Decatur, was killed with just a punch or two to the head last November during an incident in Cullman County.
No charges were filed as a result of the altercation.
A rally honoring Swamy's memory was planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Five Points South fountain.
His supporters hope the rally - along with a Facebook group called "Justice for Kapali Swamy" that has more than 1,760 members and an online petition that bears more than 3,500 signatures - will call some attention to the family's legal struggle.
