Vols Lose Tailback Hardesty for Saturday's Game

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee tailback Montario Hardesty has a stress fracture in his leg and won't play against Wyoming on Saturday.

Coupled with the Vols' (3-6) off week, it will give the junior two weeks to rest.

Hardesty has been slowed by an ankle injury at several times in his career, but coach Phillip Fulmer said Wednesday at practice he wasn't sure if the two injuries were related.

Fulmer says Hardesty's leg had been bothering him for several weeks.

The 6'0", 210 lb. North Carolina native is the team's 2nd best rusher with 211 yards on the ground this season for an average 23.4 per game.

He leads the team with five touchdowns.
