ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - Some Auburn University students have presented a new vision for west Anniston.
It includes tourism, shopping, improved housing and dressed-up parks.
The Auburn University Urban Studio is a group of students, led by professor Cheryl Morgan, that looks at all aspects of a community, hears feedback from residents, then formulates a plan, complete with ideal locations for businesses and residential growth.
Morgan and Auburn students told residents gathered at the Carver Community Center recently that they see enormous opportunities for business, residential and recreational growth in west Anniston.
City Planner Toby Bennington says the ideas serve as a starting point for the west Anniston community.
But he says it won't happen overnight.
