Decatur General ending cardiovascular surgery

DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Decatur General Hospital is ending its cardiovascular surgery program because of a lack of funding.

The hospital's board of directors made the decision Thursday evening.

Spokeswoman Trudy Grisham said the board really wanted to continue the program but that it was no longer possible.

The hospital will still provide diagnostic and cardiology services, just not surgery.
