ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Athens police say a man voted most likely to "be a rebel" by his Athens High school classmates in 2004 has been charged stealing money from his employer and then staging a coverup.
Records show that 22-year-old Adam Chad Craig was charged Thursday with third-degree robbery.
Police said Craig entered the Chevron gas station around 3:30 a.m. Thursday with a plastic grocery bag over his head and demanded money from the clerk.
Police said the clerk removed the bag during a struggle and recognized Craig as a coworker.
The clerk told police Craig fled when he said he would call police.
It was later determined $310 was missing from the safe.
Police believe Craig stole the money and staged the robbery to cover up the theft.
