Who does my donation help?

When Jackson County residents make a can donation to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon your donation goes directly to the Salvation Army of Jackson County. You can be sure that your donation helps people in your community. 

The Salvation Army of Jackson County provides help to victims of disasters and emergency assistance (medicine, utilities, lodging, food, gas vouchers, and rent) to those in need. It also operates thrift stores and offers summer camp for low-income kids.

When food supplies at the Jackson County Salvation Army are low, the agency buys food so it never has to turn its hungry clients away. When you make a donation to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon you are helping the Salvation Army of Jackson County preserve its precious funds to support the other quality programs it offers in your community.

When is the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon?

The WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon is Thursday, December 5. There are twelve counties in North Alabama participating in the event including Jackson County.

How can I make a donation?

Everyone is encouraged to bring a donation by the Wal-Mart on Hwy. 72 in Scottsboro on December 5. Many donations are made by schools, offices and churches that have held their own can drives in the weeks and months leading up to the WAFF 48 Heart of the Valley Can-a-thon. On December 5, they deliver their entire can collection to Wal-Mart parking lot to donate it to the Can-a-thon.
