BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The drought-situation in Alabama is improving slightly, according to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor Survey.
The Survey, released Thursday, said 91 percent of Alabama remains under some stage of drought - a 2 percent decrease from last week. Approximately 2 percent of the state - a small area in northeast Alabama - remain in severe drought.
12 percent of the state is in moderate drought.
The Monitor considers Alabama's drought a long term situation because the state is classified as abnormally dry.
