To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. New developments in the investigation into a fire that killed a Franklin County 6-year-old boy.

The mother of that child is now accused of killing him.

31-year old Christie Michelle Scott turned herself in to Russellville Police at 11:00 a.m. Monday.

Police have charged her with three counts of capital murder and have denied bond.

The news has shocked the community.

Investigators now say 6-year-old Mason Scott was intentionally killed in a house fire on August 16th.

The surprising part is that his mother is accused of doing it.

Kathy Garrison, of Russellville, said, "We had been hearing rumors for weeks, but that was just rumors, you didn't know for sure."

Sherman Flanagan, of Phil Campbell, said, "I wasn't too surprised since I heard that she might be a suspect."

The Scott's home on Signore Drive remains empty.

Plywood boards have been nailed up to cover the burned out hole where Mason's room used to be.

Yellow police tape has now fallen to the ground.

Investigators say they kept many facts confidential until the case went to grand jury.

Residents still wonde why a mother would allegedly commit such a crime?

Brenda Hopson, of Russellville, said, "I can't believe a mother would do that, especially being known in town."

Most residents say it is going to take a lot of time for the community to heal.

"It's going to be hard, I really don't know," said Garrison.

Hopson added, "She needs help."
