AAA: Gas prices dip overnight, despite shortages

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Despite gasoline shortages plaguing the Southeast, gas prices across Alabama were down two cents overnight, but remain higher than the national average.

AAA reports the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded Monday is $3.78.

The national average for regular is $3.64. AAA's daily fuel gauge reports finds the statewide average for midgrade is $3.96 while premium cost $4.07 a gallon.

Mobile has the cheapest city average for regular at $3.69 a gallon.

Birmingham had the highest average at $3.80.
