Maddux Trade Puts Him Back in a Dodger Uniform

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Greg Maddux is headed back to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers and San Diego Padres have agreed to a trade that puts the 353-game winner in a pennant race again.

Reportedly, the Padres will receive two players in return for the 42-year-old Maddux, who will join a Dodger team tied with Arizona atop the NL West.

The trade is expected to be formally announced later today.

The four-time Cy Young Award winner has a no-trade clause in his contract and has agreed to waive it. Maddux has a 6-9, 3.99 record with the Padres team that has languished in last place in a weak division.

He was 6-3 with a 3.30 ERA in 12 starts for the Dodgers in 2006.
