Kids to Love introduces Alex

11-year-old Alex is in the 6th grade.

He wants to be a football player or chef when he grows up.

"I like to cook burgers and I like to cook hot dogs and pork chops.  I'm like a gourmet person," Alex says.

He is also a great reader. He told WAFF 48 News anchor Lee Marshall about his new favorite book.

"It's about a boy from the country and goes to the city," Alex says.

Alex can identify with the boy in the book because he has moved a lot in his life, too.

"How long have you been in foster care?" Marshall asked.

"Since I was four," Alex said.

Seven homes, seven years, seven schools.

"It's hard, but I keep it together. I don't have no friends there. I don't know what to do to make friends," Alex says.

Fighting back tears, Alex says in spite of all the moves he has kept his grades on track.

"It's not that hard. I'm usually an 'A' student," he says.
