OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Ole Miss quarterback Jevan Snead had an impressive first pre-season scrimmage, hooking up with receivers on a handful of touchdown passes and moving the offense downfield with ease.
The first play of the scrimmage was a 65-yard touchdown on a play-action pass from Snead to receiver Mike Wallace, bringing the crowd of an estimated 400 to its feet.
Coach Houston Nutt said after the scrimmage that he was pleased with how his sophomore quarterback managed the team.
Injuries continue to pile up for the Rebels, who have lost five starters in the first week. Linebacker Allen Walker hurt his knee during the first series of the scrimmage while Wallace tweaked a hamstring. Neither injury appears serious.
