Five DPs, Bullpen Key in Stars 4-2 Win

(HUNTSVILLE) - Chris Errecart, five double plays, and a solid bullpen effort combined to give Alexandre Periard his first Double-A victory, Tuesday night at Joe Davis Stadium, as the Huntsville Stars ended their 10-game homestand with a 4-2 victory and a series win over the Southern Division-leading Mississippi Braves.

Periard worked six innings, just long enough for Errecart to snap a 2-2 tie in the bottom half of the inning with a home run deep to centerfield to give the Quebec native his 10th win of the season. Periard came to Huntsville with nine victories at Class A-Brevard County (FSL).

Lorenzo Cain added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the 8th

Periard gave up 2 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks. Patrick Ryan, David Johnson, and Juan Sandoval finished the game for Periard, with Sandoval picking up his 15th save.

The Stars scored in the 1st inning in all five games of this series.

The Stars open a five-game series with the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx, Wednesday evening, with right-hander Nic Ungs (3-1, 2.19) taking the mound against Diamond Jaxx' right-hander Joe Woerman. Woerman is just down from Class AAA-Tacoma (PCL), where he was 2-8 with a 7.47 ERA.
