Sentencing for Barry Whitton was held Friday at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Huntsville.
Whitton was sentenced to ten years on the weapons charges.
He must pay $3,000 in fines, with interest.
He was also sentenced to three years supervised probation after his release and he must participate in a mental health program.
Whitton can appeal the sentence within the next 10 days.
Investigators say they found weapons on his Jackson County property last summer while they were searching for his missing wife and step daughter.
Kim Whitton and 11-year-old Haleigh Culwell were last seen June of 2007.
