Fresh, home-grown veggies are now at the Madison County Farmers Market! On Saturday, July 12, you'll get the chance to celebrate. The event is set for 10am- noon at the market, located at 1022 Cook Avenue, just off the Parkway behind Krispy Kreme. You'll get a chance to taste locally-grown, fresh-picked corn.
You'll also find squash, cucumbers, new potatoes, onions, green beans, peas, blackberries, and peaches. If you can't make it on Saturday, the Farmers Market is open every day of the week from 6am- 6pm. The Madison County Farmers Market is the oldest in the state of Alabama.
The market, which is the oldest in the state of Alabama, first began operation in 1814 in the basement of the Madison County Courthouse. Today, it is located on Cook Avenue, just off North Parkway, behind Krispy Kreme.
