Brewers Place Weeks on DL... Hernan Iribarren Recalled from Nashville

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee Brewers 2nd baseman Rickie Weeks has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained left knee. The move is retroactive to June 7th.

He was injured Friday agasint the Rockies when Jeff Baker slid into him on a play at second base.

Weeks is hitting .210, with 7 home runs and 10 stolen bases. His 43 runs scored is tied for 9th in the National League.

Craig Counsell and Joe Dillon started in place of Weeks on Saturday and Sunday, with Dillon going 1-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored -- and an error -- in Sunday's win over Colorado.

Former Huntsville Stars 2nd baseman Hernan Iribarren has been recalled from Triple-A Nashville and join the team Tuesday in Houston. Iribarren was batting .273 for the Sounds with 14 stolen bases and could give the team a leadoff option.

Earlier this season, he appeared in 5 games for the Brewers, going 2-for-6 at the plate.

The Venezuelan left-hander hit .307 with 23 doubles and 12 triples for the Stars last seaosn.
