Auburn freshman infielder and former Grissom High standout Hunter Morris has accepted an invitation to participate in the USA Baseball National team trials next month.

The SEC Freshman-of-the-Year candidate is among 12 players on the initial invite list.

The trials are held June 11-23 throughout the northeastern and southeastern parts of the United States and will include 32 of the nation's top collegiate players. The 22-man roster will be announced on June 24th.

Morris played on Team USA's silver medal-winning Junior National Team in the 2006 World Games in Cuba.

Entering this weekend's series at Ole Miss, Morris is hitting .359 with 10 home runs and leads the Tigers in RBIs (42) and on-base percentage (.442). He's 2nd with a .614 slugging percentage.

Auburn has had four players selected to the team in the past; cacher Gregg Olson in 1987, shortstop and former Huntsville Stars infielder Mark Bellhorn in 1993 and 1994, John Powell in 1993, and most recently, Steven Register in 2003.
