Clinton says Obama is out of touch on gas tax

INDIANPOLIS (AP) - Hillary Rodham Clinton says rival Barack Obama's opposition to rolling back the federal gas tax over the summer shows he's out of touch with the economic hardships being felt by ordinary citizens.

Clinton, on a visit to an Indiana veneer factory, says suspending the tax "means a lot to people who are struggling here."

She also says that her call for a windfall profits tax on oil companies to pay for the loss of tax revenue makes her "the only candidate who will provide immediate relief at the pump, with a plan."

John McCain has also called for suspending the federal fuel tax over the summer months.
