Eric Soltys Hired as Huntsville Havoc's New Head Coach

(HUNTSVILLE) - The Huntsville Havoc have a new head coach.

Club owner Keith Jeffries has gone to the Central Hockey League for Eric Soltys, a native of Needham, Massachusetts, who was assistant head coach of the New Mexico Scorpions.

The Scorpions finished in 2nd place in the CHL's Southwest Division this past season with a 34-24-6 record. They lost in the quarterfinals of the playoffs to the Arizona Sundogs.

Soltys played in five career games as a goaltender in the WPHL (with the Scorpions) and CHL (with the Indianapolis Ice in 1999-2000) before retiring and embarking on his coaching career.

He has served as an Assistant Coach and Head U.S. Scout for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.  Prior to his stay in Quebec, Soltys spent two seasons as an Assistant Coach for the University of Maine and was the Head Coach for one season at Gilmour Academy, where he coached former Havoc player Bill McCreary.

A Meet-the-Coach Party will be held on Monday, May 12th at 5:00 pm at the Von Braun Center. This event is open to the public.

The Huntsville Havoc will celebrate their 5th Anniversary during the 2008-09 season.
