Lookouts Snap Stars' 6-Game Home Win Streak

(HUNTSVILLE) - Chattanooga hitters Sean Henry and Craig Tatum hit back-to-back home runs off reliever Ben Stanczyk to go ahead 2-1 in the 6th inning en route to a 7-5 win over the Huntsville Stars on another chilly night at Joe Davis Stadium.

The Stars fall to 7-5 on the season and lost for the first time at home this year to fall two games in back of Northern Division-leading Carolina. The Lookouts improve to 6-6.

Derek Miller and Southern League Pitcher-of-the-Week Daryl Thompson were locked in a pitchers' duel for five innings. Mat Gamel's 4th inning home run to right-center for Huntsville gave Miller a 1-0 lead to work with.

Miller lost his lead when Ben Stanczyk, in his 3rd appearance of the season, gave up home runs to the second and third batter he faced in the game in the 6th inning.

The Lookouts erupted for five more runs in the 7th. Stanczyk allowed a single, a double, another single, then after a play at the plate retired Michael Griffin, a triple, a double, and a single followed.. A tailor-made double play gracefully ended theinning for Stanczyk who gave up 7 runs on 8 hits in 2 innings.

Stanczyk was charged with the loss. He is 0-1. Thompson, who ended his first four innings with strikeouts and fanned 7 in 5 2/3 innings, picked up his 2nd win without a loss.

The Stars rallied in the bottom of the 7th after relief pitcher Ryan Lutz retired the first two hitters, Chris Errecart on a comebacker to the mound and Matt LaPorta struck out on a checked swing. Six straight singles followed resulting in four runs to make it 7-5.

The series continues with a morning game on Wednesday. David Welch (2-0) goes to the hill for Huntsville against Lookouts' right-hander Ramon Ramirez.
