Two-Run HR Beats Stars, 3-2, in Rain-Shortened Game

(JACKSON, Tenn.) - Marshall Hubbard hit a game-deciding 2-run home run and drove in all three off West Tennessee's runs as the Diamond Jaxx handed the Huntsville Stars their 2nd straight loss, 3-2, in a rain-shortened game at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tennessee.

The win was the 3rd straight for the Diamond Jaxx, whose record improves to 4-3. The Stars are 5-2, but retain their one-game lead in the Northern division.

The Stars took an early 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning on a 2-run double by Freddy Parejo off starter Rich Dorman (2-0). Parejo, the Stars' 5th outfielder who hit just .194 with runners in scoring position last year, and just .219 overall, is 5-for-10 with 3 RBIs this young season.

The Diamond Jaxx cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning when Hubbard scored Shawn Garrett with a sacrifice fly.

Hubbard gave the Jaxx the lead for good when he hit a 2-run homer off losing pitcher Derek Miller (0-1). The home run was Hubbard's third in as many days.

Alcides Escobar had a chance to make a difference in this game, but with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the 5th and one out, but he hit into a 6-4-3 double play.

The same two teams will play the middle game of this 5-game series on Friday night at 7:05 CT. Left-hander Justin Thomas (0-1 4.76) will face lefty David Welch (1-0 3.60).
