MERIDIAN, Miss. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful John McCain is expressing surprise that the Iraqi government is cracking down on Shiite militias, without consulting the United States.
But he says Iraq has a freely-elected government which is free to make its own decision, so he's not disappointed.
McCain has made his support for the Iraq war a central theme of his presidential campaign.
During a campaign event today at Mississippi State University, McCain cast himself as an "imperfect servant" of his country who descended from a family of U.S. warriors.
McCain also delivered a list of government do's and dont's covering issues like taxes, health care, unemployment and education.
