Stars Launch "Operation Clean Sweep"

(HUNTSVILLE) - The staff of the Huntsville Stars will be welcoming volunteers Saturday at Joe Davis Stadium as they will begin preparing for the 2008 season by pulling a page from "Tom Sawyer". Volunteers are being asked to arrive as early as 9 am Saturday in a community project new General Manager Buck Rogers calls "Operation Clean Sweep".

In exchange for volunteer help in painting, sweeping, raking, dusting, and hauling garbage to six or eight on-site dumpsters, they will be rewarded with various ticket packages based on the time volunteered with the staff.

Also, the Stars' concession company, Sodexo, will be cooking hot dogs and providing drinks for all that come to help with their labor.

Rogers is asking fans to bring their work gloves, rakes, brooms, and paint brushes. Rogers, who took over the Stars' office earlier this week, is looking to improve the general appearance of the stadium. He and other members of the Stars' front office staff will be on hand to lead the general housekeeping tasks needed at the stadium.

The Stars' 2008 baseball season begins at home against the Mississippi Braves on April 3.
