(HUNTSVILLE) - Despite playing two of its best games of the season, and fresh off a pair of victories against ranked Delta State, the UAH Chargers (12-17) came up just shy against 3rd-ranked West Alabama dropping a pair, 2-1 and 3-2, Sunday at Joe Davis Stadium.
Indjomar Juliana battled UWA's Brandon Dill in Game One, 1-1, for 6 1/3 innings, allowing just 4 hits before being pulled for reliever Jacob Wray.
Wray got the Chargers out of a 2nd-and-3rd, one-out jam in the 7th, but gave up a two-out single to catcher Jake DeRoy in the 8th.
Dill finished a complete game 4-hitter on the hill by retiring the final six Chargers he faced.
In the second game, Colby Lipham (1-4) had a 1-0 lead before giving up a leadoff single to Rob Dahlberg, who went 3-for-3, and a walk to Tres Avans. After a pair of wild pitches moved both runners up, Matt Busbee doubled down the left field line to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
West Alabama scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th, making it 3-1, on a fielding error by 3rd baseman Jordan Parker. Blake Butler doubled in a run in the bottom of the inning, but that's as close as the Chargers would get.
Matt Hill (3-0) picked up the win, issuing only one walk and fanning 5 in 6 innings. Lipham went 6 1/3 allowing 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out one.
The Chargers head to Lookout Mountain, Ga., on Tuesday for a midweek non-conference doubleheader at Covenant College starting at 4 p.m.
