North Alabama dodges major wind damage, but flooding is another factor

A massive storm system moving through Alabama early Tuesday left street flooding in some parts of our area.

One driver learned a valuable lesson overnight: never drive your vehicle into areas where high water covers the road.

She was driving down Country Club Avenue in Huntsville when she realized the water was deeper than she'd thought.

Luckily a passerby came by and guided her out of danger.

There is still standing water in some areas today, so you're advised to drive with caution.

According to a preliminary storm report from the National Weather Service, several homes were damaged in the Eutaw community in Greene County.

Powerful winds are blamed for uprooting trees and damaging roofs in Clarke, Tuscaloosa, Greene and Talladega counties.
